“The Iron Claw” Zac Efron?

The Von Erich family was a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960s to the present day. The matriarch of the family, Fritz Von Erich died of cancer in his Denton County home in 1997 at the age of 68. The family became legend in the state of Texas. One of the greatest families in wrestling stuck with the largest tragedy ever. Five of his six sons all passed before their time, due to accidents, illness, and suicide. The family is legendary in the world of wrestling.

Now it looks like Zac Efron will be joining the film, The Iron Claw. Deadline is reporting that the latest drama from writer-director Sean Durkin as well as A24. Durkin is writing and directing along with the producers Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger and Harrison Huffman. The film will follow, the true story of the Von Erichs, the rise and fall of their family, a dynasty of wrestlers.

Durkin previously helmed the 2011 drama Martha Marcy May Marlene starring Elizabeth Olsen, and directed 2020‘s The Nest, as well as the upcoming Dead Ringers starring Rachel Weisz.

This sounds like a lot of fun. There have been some fantastic Pro Wrestling films and entertainment lately. The Wrestler, Fighting With My Family, and even on TV, Heels and Young Rock. There is a Hulk Hogan biopic on it’s way staring Chris Hemsworth, and now this sounds like it could join all these properties as an awesome inclusion. But what say you?
