Midday yesterday we learned some new information about the next Scream installment. We already learned last week that Neve Campbell is not planning on returning for the franchise. She first mentioned it at a panel she would not be returning to the franchise, and then clarified her statement:
As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.
She was backed up by Scream Alum Matthew Lillard and Jaime Kennedy saying she made the right choice. But now we know even more about the script. Ghostface will be leaving the leafy forest land of Woodsboro and following in Jason Voorhees’s steps, and heading to the big apple.
Melissa Barrera who played Sam in the fifth film, Jasmin Savoy Brown who played Mindy, Mason Gooding who played Chad, and Tara played by Jenna Ortega are all confirmed to return in the sixth film from Paramount Pictures. As far as legacy characters, we should see the alleged return of Hayden Panettiere’s Kirby from Scre4m. As well as Courteney Cox returning once again as Gale Weathers.
Directing the new sequel are SCREAM and Ready or Not directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick are co-writing the screenplay, who also worked on the SCREAM script.
