Twisted Metal Series Adds Scream Queen

Twisted Metal is a demolition derby that utilized the usage of missiles, machine guns, mines, and other types of weapons. Players choose a vehicle, and an arena, to engage in battle with opposing drivers. A variety of weapons and upgrades are obtainable by pick-ups scattered throughout the stage. The last driver alive was the winner.

Peacock is in the process of making a half-hour action-comedy based on the game. The story is about a motor-mouthed outsider who is offered a chance at a better life, if he can deliver a mysterious package across a postapocalyptic wasteland. Along with a trigger-happy car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all-too-familiar ice cream truck.

The project already has Anthony Mackie, Stephanie Beatriz, and Thomas Haden Church, and now, according to a Deadline Exclusive, it looks like star of the Scream franchise Neve Campbell has joined the project. Deadline reports that Campbell will play the reoccurring role of Raven. Her friends called her “Raven” because of her fixation with the starkly black bird and also the black leather and dark makeup she wears. Raven despises the “in-crowd” at school and disassociates herself as much as possible. But no matter how much she tries to avoid them, they keep picking on her and her small group of friends.

Mackie will play the lead in the series from Cobra Kai writer Michael Jonathan Smith and based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Beatriz will play the thief that runs with him. Twisted Metal was one of my favorite games growing up. I remember playing it with my older cousin at family get togethers. Peacock has been streaming together quite a catalog of originals. Along with the Saved By The Bell and Bel Air reboots. Are you excited to see this project come to light? I know I am. Answer the call in the comments below.
