Brendan Fraser Joins Batgirl as Firefly

Brendan Fraser has begun to branch back out into the hollywood scene over the last few years. Showing up in the crime drama No Sudden Move, and as the voice of Robot Man in Doom Patrol, plus upcoming roles in Darren Aronofsky’s The Whale and Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. And now he will be continue his relationship with DC by portraying Firefly, the villain in the upcoming HBO Max Batgirl film.

Batgirl is set to star Leslie Grace from Into The Heights, as the title hero Batgirl, aka Barbra Gordon. JK Simmons will be returning as Commissioner Gordon from Justice League and BVS. Batgirl is set to hit HBO Max in 2022, and will be the first live action DC film set exclusively for HBO Max.

Firefly has been seen in various DC projects based in the Bat-world, including The Batman cartoon series, The CW’s Arrow, portrayed by Andrew Dunbar, and the Batman: Arkham video game franchise. Additionally, a character based on Firefly named Bridgit Pike appeared in the television series Gotham, portrayed by Michelle Veintimilla and Camila Perez. Fraser will be the first to play the character in a feature film and will play the Garfield Lynns version of the character.
