Chloe Bennet ( Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.) has left the CW’s live action Powerpuff Girls series, according to Variety. Bennet was set to star as Blossom, leader of the superhero team. According to Variety, Warner Bros. Television wanted to extend Bennet’s option as they reworked the pilot The CW made the decision to redevelop and reshoot the pilot, but scheduling conflicts forced Bennet to exit instead.
Dove Cameron and Yana Perrault are still attached to play Bubbles and Buttercup. Along with Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Nicholas Podany as a reimagined version of the villain Mojo Jojo and Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum.
The series is still set to revolve around the Powerpuff Girls, as they’re all grown up, and resent having lost their childhood to crimefighting. When the world needs them more than ever, the girls must decide if they are able to reunite.
Casting for a new Blossom to take up Bennet’s place in the series will begin this fall. Personally I this really makes me lose a lot of interest in the project.
