The Sopranos was a smash hit of the early 2000’s. And now, creator David Chase and Lawrence Konner are bringing us the prequel, and this time its on the big screen.

The Many Saints of Newark stars Alessandro Nivola, Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Michael Gandolfini, Ray Liotta, and Vera Farmiga. Set in the 1960s and 1970s in Newark, New Jersey, using the 1967 riots in the city as a backdrop for tensions between the Italian-American and African-American communities, will follow the origins of Tony Soprano amid a gang war his family is involved in.

As someone who just recently saw the Sopranos for the first time, I am insanely excited for this movie! Recently being on a huge mobster kick, I am hopeful that this isn’t a one off. I would love to see this world expand, and seeing Michael Gandolfini take on the role of his late father is incredible!
