After a very rocky start that included multiple rewrites, delays, and even possible cancelations, The Flash is underway shooting. We now even have a look at set photos. Which means The Flash, set to be loosely based on the Flashpoint storyline, is officially on it’s way.
The set photos are all pretty telling. You can see all the photo’s below, but most interesting is this one. Michael Keaton on set, not as the bat, but as Bruce Wayne. It has been nearly 20 years since Keaton was last seen as the Batman, and his rendition of the dark knight has remained in the conversation for the best Batman. Rumors, and wishes, have swirled that one day we could see a Batman Beyond film with Keaton in the role, but for now, a return to his Batman in the Flash will give us fans a little of what we wanted.
Along with the picture of Keaton in the tailored blue suit as Mr. Wayne, we get a little more look into this scene, seeing him speaking with Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen. as well what seems to be Bruce Wayne’s sleek new ride. No it’s not the Batmobile, but it’s definitely as badass as it. We also get see Barry is now wearing the Flash Ring. In Flash lore, Flash keeps his suit in a ring he wears, and it pops out in times of need for him to quickly jump into. We also get a shot of Keirsey Clemmons‘ Iris West Allen alongside of Barry. We finally got a quick look at Clemmons as the Flash’s love interest in Zack Snyder’s Justice League released on HBO Max earlier this year. Check out the batch of set photos below.
Ok, so maybe that wasn’t the entire batch, maybe there was one more to show, one we want to highlight. And that, is none other then our first look at Supergirl on the big screen since Helen Slater played her in 1984.
In The Flash, Supergirl will be played by Sasha Calle. Sasha looks baller in this role, and I hope it leads to more of her, maybe a Man of Steel 2 finally, or even better, her own film. Interestingly enough, the costume, and overall look, seems to be inspired more from Injustice’s Lara Lane–Kent, rather then Kara Zor–El. It remains to be seen on whether or not Calle is playing Superman’s daughter or Cousin. Lara appears prominently during Superman’s dream in Year 3 of Injustice: Gods Among Us, where Joker did not kill Lois, who was pregnant with Lara.
On top of all these set photos, over the last few weeks, director Andy Muschietti released some pretty up-close and person looks at Batman, Flash, and Supergirl on his Instagram.
The Flash is set to be released on November 4th, 2022. Directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson, and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash alongside Ben Affleck, Michael Keaton, Sasha Calle, Kiersey Clemons, Maribel Verdú, and Ron Livingston.
