The Saw franchise has taken in nearly $1 billion worldwide. It is a horror franchise staple, and for nearly a decade ruled Halloween weekend at the box offices. I was excited every year to see the new installment to the saga. Despite its later cheesy entries, I always enjoyed what was deemed “torture porn” franchise. The twist and turns always got me and had me ready for the next episode.
The last installment, Jigsaw, released in 2017 managed a good $100 Million at the box office from a $10 Million Budget. So naturally this is an IP that is still viable and interesting to the public. Enter Chris Rock and Samuel L. Jackson.

That is right, Sam Jackson and Chris Rock are ready to introduce us to the next chapter in the Book of Saw, Spiral. A trailer was released on February 5th back in 2020 and was originally scheduled to be released on October 23rd, 2020, to keep with the Halloween tradition. But was then moved up to May 15th, 2020, and then delayed to May 21st, 2021. Now it looks like or official release date is May 14th, 2021.
The new release date come straight from David Spitz, President of Distribution, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. Speaking about the film, Spitz said:

A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of Saw. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.
Spiral stars Chris Rock, Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols, and Samuel L. Jackson, and is produced by the original Saw team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman andwrittenby Josh Stolberg & Pete Goldfinger.
