Creed looks to get back in the Ring for a Round 3

Sylvester Stallone and Ryan Coogler came out swinging with the return to the Rocky franchise. Kind of a coming out party letting the world know exactly how big of a star Michael B. Jordan is. The film spawned a nomination or two, and lead to a sequel setting up Rocky’s biggest foe to take on his protégé. Now, Creed is ready for a 3rd bout, and this time, he plans to be the man in the ring, as well as in the corner.

MGM has announced that Creed III is officially a go and set for November 23rd, 2022. And with the release date, comes a new director, Michael B. Jordan himself. This will be Jordan’s debut, and nothing new to the Rocky franchise. Stallone directed Rocky II, III, IV, as well as Rocky Balboa.

Jordan commented on his directorial debut saying:

Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right, Creed III is that moment — a time in my life where I’ve grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally, and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment. This franchise and in particular the themes of Creed III are deeply personal to me. I look forward to sharing the next chapter of Adonis Creed’s story with the awesome responsibility of being its director and namesake.

The film is written by Keenan Coogler, on a script based on a treatment by his brother Ryan, who also directed and wrote the first Creed film. Tessa Thompson is set to return to the role as Bianca Creed. There is no word on if Stallone will return to the role of Rocky. After Creed II, he said was done with the character. However he said that before, and then Rocky Balboa. Then he said it again, and then Creed. So who knows?

Are you excited for Creed III? Are you looking forward to Baby Creed getting back in the ring? Who are you expecting him to go head up with? Clubber Lang’s son? Answer the call in the comments below!
