The Powerpuff Girls Have Arrived

Originally created in a new batch of cartoons on the Cartoon Network’s What A Cartoon! Fridays, in an attempt to introduce the word to new cartons, from Hanna-Barbera. From these Friday night specials Dexter Laboratory, CatDog, Johnny Bravo, Ed, Edd, & Eddy, and Space Ghost Coast To Coast all premiered along with a little short called The Powerpuff Girls. The Powerpuff Girls helped become a great a success, and has spawned multiple sequel series and seasons.

The Powerpuff Girls revolves around the adventures of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, three kindergarten girls with various superpowers. Each episode is usually having some humorous variation of standard superhero shows, with the girls using their powers to defend the fixational town of Townsville from villains and giant monsters.

Now it looks that the CW is on its way to creating the first ever live action version of the Powerpuff Girls! CW has really cornered the market on superhero shows, so bringing in the Powerpuff Girls fits on with their brand. And to make matters even more exciting, we have our stars of the show as well! In their iteration of the Powerpuff Girls, they’re all grown up, and resent having lost their childhood to crimefighting. When the world needs them more than ever, the girls must decide if they are able to reunite.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alum Chloe Bennet steps up to take on the role of Blossom Utonium. The Little-Miss-Perfect child superhero leader, who holds several advanced degrees, but now a repressed reclusive with anxiety who must find a way to lead the squad once again, on her own terms.

Cameron Dove is Bubbles Utonium. Wanting to recapture her child hood fame of Americas Sweet Girl Superhero with her charming exterior that brings with it an unexpected toughness and wit.

Yana Perrault is the rebellious badass group muscle, Buttercup Utonium. Living the quite life Buttercup is hesitant to head back into the spotlight as she has spent her adulthood trying to shed her Powerpuff Girl identity and live an anonymous life.

I’m excited for this take on the superhero cartoon. I loved Bennet’s Quake on S.H.I.E.L.D. and recently was introduced to Dove Cameron on Liv & Maddie thanks to my 4-year-old niece. Perrault I know the least about but am excited for her take on Buttercup. What do you think? Answer the call in the comments below!
