It has been in development at WB for 4 years with David Heyman set to produce and Paul King (Paddington) in the directors chair, and that may be all we have since no casting has been announced, but we do have a release date now!

March 17, 2023 will be the day we all get to learn what lead to Wonka becoming the candy man he was always destined to be. Will we see the journey to get the Oompa Loompa’s? Will we see the construction of the Wonka factory? Is this a prequel to the iconic Gene Wilder film from 1971? Or to the Johnny Depp version of 2005? Or just a prequel to the original Roald Dahl’s novel? All questions we will have to wait to find out.
